Who designs the PFEIFER Hybridbeam®?

PFEIFER Hybridbeams® are designed in accordance with the requirements specified in the reference documents. Calculations and workshop documentation of Hybridbeams is realized by the manufacturer’s structural design office; the execution documentation is made by the object’s structural designer in cooperation with the manufacturer’s designers.

How is the load capacity ensured during installation? How to support the beams? What about potential damage to the fire paint coating?

Determining the load capacity during installation is part of the beam’s calculations. In a standard situation, the PFEIFER-Hybridbeams don’t need to be supported during installation, which is checked by calculation. Which way are the beams protected with undercoat anti- corrosion paint? Is this correct according to the fire protection systems aforementioned in question No.1? What is the thickness of the undercoat paint? Is the beam’s manufacturer authorized to make undercoat paint under for the intumescent paint coatings system?

This is due to Technical Approval and ETA. The undercoat paint is made according to the guidelines of the manufacturer of the intumescent paint coatings and supplied by them. Does the supplier intend to paint the beams in the production plant? If so, how will they be repainted / repaired after the damage of intumescent paint coating during transport / assembly / concreting / removing adjustable steel columns – according to what “repair program”? How does this relate to the weather conditions (structure that is exposed to water, frost etc.)?

The first part of the question – see answer here. Any repairs to the damage in the intumescent coating are done by specialized workers of the beam’s manufacturer according to his own technology. The influence of the weather conditions on the durability of the intumescent coating is specified by the paint manufacturer.

Where can you find unambiguous guidelines for the correct execution of the intumescent paint coatings, i.e. who designs the paint coating with fire resistance, what thicknesses are usually required, how to protect the coating against damage during concreting (in the upper surface area of the bottom flange)?
