Extension of the Schunk tower in Giessen

The Schunk Tower in Heuchelheim is not only part of the landscape, but also an integral part of the town’s history. Thanks to our HYBRIDBEAM®, we have now also been able to become a part of this history. In the 130 years of its existence, the tower has been rebuilt several times, changing its shape and purpose (for a time, it served as a water reservoir for the area, among other things). For decades, an international technology tycoon has been operating at this location: The Schunk Group, which has now undertaken a further conversion of the facility. This will increase the height of the tower by a further 4 m and create a new viewing platform on its roof. The design was created by the architectural firm Feldmann Architekten. We would like to thank the architects for providing the animated images.

HYBRIDBEAM® enables new storeys to be added with lightweight constructions and combines aesthetics with functionality. Our Hybridbeam® means:

✔️ a flat, aesthetic ceiling that allows the space to be freely adapted – in line with the investor’s vision

✔️ lightness and durability required for particularly demanding projects.

The adaptation of the Schunk tower to modern needs is further proof that technology and history can go hand in hand.

Further thanks to the engineering office Reichmann und Partner and the Klaes company for their excellent cooperation.
